PITSHANGER RED 1-4 VENCEREMOS
Another competitive game against Pitshanger that did boil over a couple of times. We looked the better of the sides in the opening exchanges and were unlucky not to score, then around the half hour mark another V's attack broke to Ahmed and Henry headed home the opener. In the second half they came at us a bit more but we were able to handle the pressure and were unlucky to let in the equaliser from a goal mouth scramble after a free kick. From the kick off we charged straight up the pitch and restored our lead within a minute, with Shayquan scoring. We had the majority of the possession and chances until a breakaway counter by Pitshanger led to us giving away a penalty with about 10mins to go. Up steps their captain to take it and blasts it high and wide, from then on it was played in their half. Shayquan got his second and Kayhan topped the day off with a perfectly placed chip over the keepers head. We'll played boys. PR 8.5

PITSHANGER WHITE 5-3 VENCEREMOS
Too many things against us today, but mainly our finishing didn’t measure up to the many chances we created, while they had five chances and scored five goals. We also made too many minor errors in dangerous areas - and they capitalised. And, again, absences and injuries meant we had to improvise with the roles and positions. But we worked hard for each other on a horrendous mud bath pitch, and our goals were well taken. The players’ mood was good, despite the result. You could feel the strength of our team spirit. Whatever happens, we can’t come lower than third. So, for a club of our size, I’ll call that a result.

V's came back from 2-nil down at half time. A great come back after two silly mistakes gave Brentham the advantage in a well contested game. Ahmed hit the winner, scoring from half-way after seeing the keeper off his line, with the last kick of the game!

PITSHANGER BLUE 3-2 VENCEREMOS
The U18's travelled to Pitshanger Blue, with a depleted side through injuries and absences, which should not have been an excuse as the players available were more than capable of producing a result. The game started well, lots of good pressure which led to a well taken goal by Taige after a great cross from Will. However, we switched off, and the opposition equalised. We scored again, with a great finish from Luke, but, due to poor marking from a freekick, they scored an equaliser just before half time. In the second half, they scored a scrappy goal, and from then it was one way traffic, as the U18’s searched for an equaliser, but it was one of those days, no matter how long we had played the game, we did not look like scoring, despite relentless pressure. Very disappointing, as the body language from the off, was lethargic , and the players just seemed tired. After having worked so hard to get where they had, before this game, it was more disappointing for them, rather than the coaches. PR 6.0

Very competitive game within the first 5 minutes we took the lead with Henry finishing off from a through ball from Issa. Very competitive game and one we should have been more clinical with Louis heading against the bar and chances for Shayquan, Henry and Ahmed that in the end cost us the game. With about 10 minutes to go the ball had clearly crossed the by line but the ref claimed he did not see it they crossed in and equalised! Bit of miscommunication and we let them in to got 2-1 up. It was all hands to the pump then and we attacked their box for the rest of the game. We were very unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Ahmed was bundled over by 2 defenders, even their coach said that was a pen!! Good performance but not we just did not take our chances to kill the game of! PR 8.5

ICKENHAM YOUTH RED 1-2 VENCEREMOS
Ickenham dumped us on their smallest pitch, but after an early weird switch-off goal - against the run of play - we rallied and grew into the game. The goal gave them belief but Max kept us in it, with some outstanding handling and shot-stopping - along with a monster last-ditch signature tackle from Abi that had even the Ickenham manager applauding. Then the introduction of MotM Christian tilted the game in our favour. His strength, intensity and desire raised everyone’s play and we got a deserved goal after the keeper couldn’t hold on to Christian’s shot and Cieran was sharp enough to punish. Then, a lovely cross-field ball from Luke (mirroring our training session yesterday) found Christian who controlled it perfectly and found Cieran who set up Tom to bury it in the top corner. VENCEREMOS 3-2 OLD ACTONIANS RED
With lots of key players out, we had to improvise a lot today. It was scrappy and far from our free-flowing best, but we found a way to battle out a win. After Cieran’s instinctive turn-and-finish opener, we let them get in front by overplaying at the back, but we showed character and self belief to equalise with a sweet hit from Maxim (nice advantage from the ref too!) and a superb run and ruthless finish from Cieran sealed the points. Scenes. 🤪 MotM Christian was excellent in a difficult new role at LB. But his commitment and composure raised the standard for everyone. A great turn from Will at RB too, with incisive first-time link-up play and long passing. That felt like a full-on squad effort, with injured players in attendance, a half-time b*ll*cking from our injured captain, and Harvey supporting and coaching on crutches! 💪 Great club spirit. HEADSTONE MANOR RED 1-5 VENCEREMOS
Cold morning playing a team that managed to draw with the league leaders last week, confidence was high with the opposition. V's started strong but could not finish the chances created. Then against the run of play, about 10 minutes in, a free kick lofted from their own half bounced awkwardly and beat our back line and was tucked away by their striker. V's went straight back at them but everything was a bit rushed and our mistakes led to Headstone growing in confidence and for a about 20 minutes the game was pretty even with both teams creating chances. With about 5 minutes to go the boys settled, took stock of the situation and started playing calm controlled football, resulting in Adam equalising. 1-1 at halftime. Right from the off in the second half the V's took charge of the game, passing moving the ball freely and with a lot more composure than the first half. The back 4 set themselves higher up the pitch and won 90% of the balls, getting the ball to the men in the middle who fed the ball to the 3 up front with ease which led to 4 unanswered goals, with the cream of the crop being an excellently worked short corner between Kyle and Ahmed, who put the ball in the net with power from a very tight angle. Excellent second half performance, based on belief of their own abilities. PR 8.0

2 hat-tricks 2 weeks in a row! Shayquan and Henry leading the way with 3 each and the rest of the goals spread across 5 other players in a comfortable win for the V's. Dominating from the start the V's scored in the first 5 minutes and there was a lull in our performance and a little uncertainty crept in and we started to rush and made a few mistakes as well as missing some chances. We rushed not realising how much time we actually had on the ball and played long balls which we seemed did not work every time as they had a good centre back who won a lot of the first balls. We managed to grind our way through the opposition and managed to hit the back of the net four more times in the half. Halftime 5-0. 5-0 but not comfortable with the way we were playing, the coaches reiterated how we wanted to play, play on the floor and then get the ball out wide which we took on board and in a much better second half performance netted another 6 goals. Well played boys! PR 8.5

A solid win. 5-0 but, again, we should have had more - and against tougher opponents, the missed chances will hurt us. Positive and tireless forward play from hat-trick hero Rashardo - taking shots early instead of trying to score perfect goals. A run down the wing and composed finish from Darren and a nicely taken goal from an awkward angle by Christian. Great performance from Max, with a clean sheet and plenty of supportive talking. Sachin also superb with his influence, command of the team shape and some quality combination play and passing. Job done. But our first half performance was lethargic and scrappy. We need to step up the intensity and movement against Pitshanger Red next week. PR 7.5

ST JOSEPHS WHITE 3-8 VENCEREMOS
Quick start to the game, with the V’s starting strong and within 5 minutes went one nil up and looking quite comfortable but a lapse in concentration and inability to clear the ball out of our box led to St Joe’s equalising around 10 minutes into the game. Momentum was still with the V’s and soon after Kayhan soon restored our lead. But again some dithering on the ball and the bounce on a very un-even pitch the ball broke into our area and some hesitation meant their centre forward was through but a last ditch attempt by Haider took him down even though he got the ball. The ref had no choice but to send him off as he was last man and it was from behind, penalty St Joes and its 2-2. V’s would have to play ¾ of the game with 10 men! Rest of the half was even in terms of possession and attempts. After a few choice words from the coaches and some tangerines, the boys went out in the second half with all guns blazing and put in a solid performance with a man down and put six past St Joes with Ahmed and Kayhan bagging hat-ricks and Vinny finishing off a excellent team goal. We did let one goal in but it was scored by a ex-V!  PR 8.0

WOOD LANE RED 3-5 VENCEREMOS
The U18s travelled to Shepherds Bush to play the 2nd placed team, Wood Lane. With a couple of key players missing, we knew this was going to be a tough game, as the opposition was strong and the pitch wasn’t in the best of condition. The first half was a ding dong affair, with U18’s taking an early lead, and could have gone up by 2, had a perfectly good goal not been ruled out by a dubious offside decision. The opposition hit 2 quick goals to go into the lead. The U18’s responded well equalising, but the opposition took the lead once gain right on the half time whistle. The U18’s regrouped, and the 2nd half was a different story. The U18’s took control of the game and created chances and were rewarded by 3 further goals with no replay. The defence was imperious ( big shout out to Will who stepped in at right back ) and the forward line throughout the game, pressed and were clinical, with Cieran, Taige , and Rashardo ( he ran his socks off!) creating havoc, and then Christian and Darren, coming on as subs, continuing the fine work. The midfield was solid throughout, with Abi and Alex holding strong, and Luke running the show. Every player was outstanding, the subs coming on made game changing contributions. Whilst a number of players were in contention for the man of the match, Josh really stood out, and didn’t put a foot wrong all game. An excellent, determined, mentally and physically strong performance, the best of the season so far! MotM Josh. PR 9.0

BRENTHAM COLTS 4-1 VENCEREMOS
Started the game very strong and within 5 minutes 1 nil up with Henry's first goal for the V's. About 5 minutes later we are awarded a penalty with Ahmed being bundled to the floor after a strong run into the areas. He steps up and struck an excellent penalty but was matched by an excellent save from their keeper! This lifted the opposition and then soon after they level the game with a cutting ball through the middle which thier centre forward put in to the back of the net. 1-1 at half time. Very scrappy second half, where not many decisions went for the V's. A lot of 50/50 ball were flagged up, fouls given to BC, corners not given and with one of our players getting a broken nose we had no subs. So as the game went on we were tired and disgruntled leading to our left back being sent off and playing the last quarter with 10 men, therefore letting in 3 more goals. Disappointed with today but we go again next week. Special mention to Haider who stepped up to play in goal in Aiden's absence. PR 6.0

VENCEREMOS 2-1 HILLINGDON ABBOTS
Solid performance against the top of the table club, where the boys battled away and belived that they were as good as or better than the opposition. Some good personal battles across the pitch and both teams had chances but nothing clear cut. In the last minute of the first half the Abbots broke on the left and crossed into our box and they hammered the ball in so 1 nil down at half time. Even after the disappointment of the late goal the boys knew that they were still in this and even after a rocky first 10 minutes where we hung on with some last gasp defending, we got ourselves back into the game and started to create some of our own chances, then with about 15 minutes to go a clever ball played in by Henry to Shayquan running into the box where the center half had to clatter him and bring him down, penalty V's! Up steps AB and levels it!! Game on from then, end to end and chances at both ends. One of their players got injured and there was a bit of a ding dong with the ref, thier goal keeper kicked the ball off behind the goal so the player could be dealt with, sportingly Henry just kicked the ball off to give them the ball back.
With about three minutes of normal time left we won the ball in midfield and there was a scramble in thier area and up steps Shayquan to tuck it into the back of the next! 2-1 V's The ref added 6 minutes extra time and to be fair both teams had chances where they could have drawn but Aiden pulled off a exceptional save and Ahmed and Saki could have killed the game for us!
Great performance and a lot to build on to kick on in this half of the season. We'll done boys. PR 9.0

VENCEREMOS 1-1 REGENTS PARK RED
The U18’s took on Regents Park on Sunday. Overall a strong performance, with the team creating countless chances hitting the post and bar on several occasions. The opposition was limited to one shot on target, which they scored early due to a lapse of concentration at the back. The U18’s responded well, and took the game to the opposition, but could only manage the 1 goal. The game was soured by an unnecessary sending off as the referee deemed Joel to have elbowed the opposition player during a free kick. Reduced to 10 men for the last 10 minutes, the U18’s showed character and continued to create chances. The game could have ended differently and totally against the run of play had it not been for a brilliant last man tackle made by Maxim, in the final minute of the game. Great displays all round, with Maxim being the standout player and man of the match. PR 7.5

VENCEREMOS 3-2 FOOTBALL SAMURAI RED
Tough game after a long winter break, in which we started the game a little rusty, which was expected given how long since we played our last game. Big chances on either side of the pitch, however both sides were'nt able to convert but at last a breakthrough with one of the best team goals we have scored this season, with 8 passes between the midfield and the forwards, leading to Vinay who finished beautifully. Unfortunately, this lead was quickly eliminated by a Samurai equaliser. With both teams battling hard against each other, the half ended 1 - 1. The V’s started the second half in control of the game and were carving out chances at will. Eventually, it takes a scorcher from 35 yards from Ahmed to put us back in the lead. Samurai having gone behind put the V’s under a bit of pressure, which paid off as they managed to scramble a jammy goal, to level the game once again. Things went from bad to worse as Arthur had to give away a penalty, allowing Samurai to take the lead for the first time in the game. Aiden standing up strong, the Samurai penalty taker skies it over the bar and from that moment on the V’s went for the jugular. With about 3 minutes to go, George floated the ball into the box, with Kayhan towered over the goalkeeper to direct it into the back of the net. However, after some offside controversy, the ref overruled the linesman… 3 - 2 THE V’s! For the final minutes, the V’s held out resiliantly, starting the second half of the season with a big win. A brilliant team performance with huge improvements in every area - communication, decision making, intensity, desire to win, finishing, set piece delivery… Plenty of goals and a clean sheet at the other end. MotM Abi completely off the scale with his energy and intensity. Running, battling, tracking back, creativity (some fantastic passes) and goal threat. The best thing about today was how we played for each other, not ourselves. We were a long way from our best today. Good dominant performance from the V's where we controlled 80% of the game with some quality controlled passing possession football. Moving the ball well we had 5 or 6 attempts that just did not fall for us until the half hour mark when Ahmed came in from the right and struck a bullet from about 25 yards out and it was 1-0. More V's possession and on 40 minutes Ahmed curled the ball home from the left hand side into the top corner beating the outstretched keeper. 2 nil lead at half time. Second half started and the boys did not let up putting constant pressure on St Joe's and we were rewarded with a Saki goal. 3-0. With this we lost a bit of discipline and too many of us tried to push forward going for the kill, let in Cory (ex V's) to pull one back. Realising what had happend the boys re grouped and held thier shape and possession, not rushing or forcing the play the cut through St Joe's on several occasions and penned them into their half which led to Vin heading in from a corner Saki making it 5. In between those St Joe's got a consolation. PR 8.0

A big win today, and an excellent performance with every single player stepping up and rising to the challenge, setting high standards for each other. The boys played well, and the score flattered the opposition. With a depleted squad, the lads that played gave it their all. Could not fault their effort and team spirit. The game was played in very difficult conditions boggy pitch and swirling winds. Sides evenly matched in the first half, with the Abbots taking advantage of an awkward bounce and that eluded our centre backs and the slotted home to get the opener. The second was contentious, will the Abbots striker clearly offside but the ref overruled the linesman and gave the goal. Second half was a battle with some crunching tackles from both sides, evenly matched but towards the end as we tired the ref gave a dubious penalty for a 50-50 challenge and Adien nearly saved it despite playing with an injured ankle . Bad tempered game where the boys played into Pitshangers hands after leading the game with a corner headed in by Kayhan. Almost called the game off as when we arrived at the pitch there was a lot of surface water and no ref! Both teams decided to play the game with Mits from the V's and Tony from the Wanderers volunteering to do a half each. The game was played well and both teams worked out that we had to get the ball out wide to avoid the puddles in the middle where the ball just did not travel. With about 10 minutes to go they managed to open up our left side and put the ball into our net. 0-1 at half time. Some rejigging at half time and a long chat about effort and impact and the boys came out to play the second half. Some solid challenges from both sets of players and both teams trying to play football. We always looked dangerous from set pieces and and around 70 minutes we got a corner on the right hand side, which Ahmed landed onto Issa's head and we pulled it back to 1-1 and had the belief we could go on and win this. We came close a few times and then eventually Shay latched on to a massive clearance from Aiden and went round to defenders and slotted it past the keeper. For last 10 minutes it was end to end but we had the closer chances to kill the game off. A solid team performance from the squad. We'll done boys but it does mean more paperwork for me to fill in!! A solid performance - much improved from last week - and a game where we were never really under too much pressure. Our intensity was better, with much sharper link-up play (particularly for the goal - Joel’s clever free kick onto a Sach overlap, and a lovely ball across the goal to be finished by Cieran.) MotM Luke set the standard with his quick transitioning, keeping the central midfield secure from counter attacks. But we need to work on following that first instinct - not holding on to the ball for too long, earlier shots, better decisions around the box to create chances, and more clinical finishing. Comfortable controlled win for the V’s today. Each player did exactly what they were asked to do which led to the emphatic score. From the off we played the game in the oppositions final third, there were three or four early chances and we finally scored in the fifth minute with Louis heading in a Ahmed cross from the left. Then the flood gates opened, with the half time score being 5-0, could have been double that. The second half started pretty much the same with some excellent football being played on the floor as instructed, which pretty much cut open the oppositions midfield. Six goals scored in the half with the highlight being a long distance effort from Gabi 10 yards inside the opposition’s half that rocketed straight past the keeper into the back of the net. Frustrating result in a game that saw the V’s dominate the majority of the game and have at least 80% of the possession. The ball just would not end up in the back of the next for us. Sunday bought about a nice departure from the norm, as we travelled into the leafy suburbs of Tufnell Park, with most of the boys travelling together by tube. A strong performance, that turned out to be a comfortable win, although, a sticky patch beginning of the 2nd half, where the boys lost some of their composure. 2 brilliant goals from Alex and Taige, coming from moves that started from within our half and within 6 and 4 passes respectively, both Alex and Taige finished off 2 great passing moves. Rashardo, was brilliant on the wing, as he drew a foul in the box and was awarded a penalty but failed to convert. A similar moment later on in the game, with strong appeals for a penalty waved away. They scored through a fortuitous goal which looked offside. Slight set back as Joel came off midway through the first half with a turned ankle, but this wasn’t a problem, as Josh slotted in seamlessly, and went to have a solid game The pressing was very impressive, led by Cieran, and that set the tone for the game. We arrived together and warmed up well and with our first attack Shay latched onto a great cross from Vinny. We dominated the first half and scored another five goals, with the highlight being Ahmed scoring direct from a corner. Just before half time a little lack of concentration led to goal being conceded. Second half we started slow and missed a soft penalty, this gave them a bit of encouragement and we got a bit complacent leading to two goals conceded, a couple of soft bookings and one of our players being sin-binned. Once we came back to full strength we went onto take command of the game and scored four unanswered goals to finish off the game. Hard opening game to the season. Pretty much even for most of the fist half, with some good battles all over the pitch. Ickenham scrambled home a goal on the half hour mark. V's played some good football after that and came close but that final ball, final touch or finish just did not come off for us. Within the first 5 minutes of the second half, a corner was parried in and it was 2 for Ickenham. Heads did not drop even with a lot of Ickenham pressure, the V's kept them out with no clear saves having to be made, and in fact we looked quite good on the counter. 10 minutes from the end a hard challenge from one of our center backs connected with thier attackers leg to the player getting injured and the inevitable happend and we got a red. No malice in the challenge just one of those unfortunate incidents. Ahmed came close with a free kick but it was just not our day.

ICKENHAM YOUTH 1-5 VENCEREMOS
First friendly played away at Ickenham with 7 new players. A solid start in the first half some good battles across the pitch, where I think the V's just edged it, with the closest we came to scoring was Shayquan hitting the underside of the bar. We came in 0-0 at half time but all in all a good performance. We experimented with different combinations in midfield and out wide to in the first half trying to see how players would react in different positions. Motivated by the way we played in the first half against a team 2 leagues above us last year, the V's came out blazing in the second half. Controlling the ball well Shayqaun found himself on to a long ball and then a cross from the left to make it 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Soon after the second goal a slight lapse in concentration led to a rare mistake and we let a easy goal in. From then it was all V's, till the final whistle, with Shayquan finishing 3 goals with the highlight being the 4th where the V's had total control of the ball for over 2 minutes and then with some intricate passing between Louis, Christian, Ali and Ahmed the ball was crossed in for Shayquan headed it from distance into the net. Great performance all round and as I said I can't believe the boys put on this performance after just playing with each other for the first time for a a hour and a half yesterday!
Squad: Aiden, Christian, Issah, Haada, Kyle (C), Vinny, Louis, Ali, Ahmed, Kayhan, Shayquan (5), Prechard, Musaud, Saki, Arash
