ELITE LONDON RED 1-4 VENCEREMOS

A good win, after a fairly flat first half performance - possibly caused by the nerves at starting with a back three...  Josh was outstanding with his tight marking and no nonsense defending, and MotM Luke was strong and commanding in the centre of defence in both halves. A great long range strike from Tom got us moving after their fluky goal and Jamel jabbed a shot into the net after a jinking run, despite being fouled. Then, a brilliant hit from Bradley - smashed into the top corner when it looked like he’d been forced too wide. And a well taken header from Rashardo - who was outstanding throughout. Constantly hassling and tracking back. Well deserved goal. A solid three points though, after a couple of disappointing results. PR:8.0

ST LAWRENCE RED 6-3 VENCEREMOS

A very tough game against the runaway leaders, with a depleted team selection due to various reasons, this was going to be a test of character, especially when we had to rejig the formation. First half we were 5-1 down after scoring first, but that didn't really tell the story of the game, having hit the cross bar 3 times. With a change of formation, Sachin and Luke partnering for the first time in central defence, and Tom and Maxim in the middle of the park, this was a total change from the norm. Second half we showed character to come back to 5-3 and playing great football, on a very poor pitch. A freak cross, come shot, ended the game 6-3, but that should not take away form the great character and determination the boys showed. More importantly, and significantly, there were voices to be heard all over the pitch, guiding and giving constructive instructions . A special mention to some outstanding performances; in defence, Anton and Joshua, brilliant at left and right back, Sachin and Luke in the middle of defence absolutely awesome as a partnership, and the goal tally really does not reflect how good they were. A special mention to Tom and Maxim, ran their socks off, and were absolutely brilliant . Jamel and Alex, first class finishes for their goals. Overall, this performance showed us there is a lot more to come from this team and there is another level we can reach. Very happy and proud of the performance, and we go again!!! PR: 8.0

HANWELL TOWN BLUE 7-1 VENCEREMOS

Great start to the game for the V’s, with constant pressure in the Hanwell area, which eventually led to an own goal from a telling cross from Shiraz causing confusion in their box and leaving the keeper beaten. The boys kept the pressure on and controversially had a goal disallowed for offside. They kept fighting but just on the stroke of half time, there was a between the midfield and defence and Hanwell pulled one back. The second half we let in a early goal and the boys seemed to go into themselves, losing their individual battles, heads dropping and a lack of cohesion in the way they were playing. Hanwell became more confident and exploited this and the second half turned into a goal fest for them. After the game the boys were very disappointed with themselves but we go again next week! PR: 5.0

VENCEREMOS 12-4 HANWELL TOWN GREEN

A game with with great finishing against one of the strongest sides in the league. Our counter attacking was flawless today, with the opposition playing a high defensive line. The boys quickly picked up on this, and whilst the opposition absolutely dominated possession, it was the speed of our breaks, the quality of the through ball and clinical finishing that made the big difference today. Our shot to goal ratio was almost flawless today. Super game and a great contribution from the entire squad! Well done! PR: 8.5

VENCEREMOS 2-3 MAGIX YOUTH RED

Tight game where both teams had the chance to win it. We were poor in the first half - passing not precise enough, off-the-ball positioning too individual. Big improvement in the second half, with MotM Marley causing plenty of problems up front with his close control and goal threat. Two nice finishes from Marley kept it competitive, but they managed to nick the eventual winner from a headed corner and we had a shot slide agonisingly wide in the last few seconds. One of those games where only one or two players had a consistently good game. We learn and go again next week. PR: 6.0

HENDON YOUTH WHITE 3-4 VENCEREMOS

...1 nil up (Ali assist Shiraz goal) / 2nil up (Ali assist Shiraz goal) / 2-1 / 2-2 half time.

Dull 15 mins of the second half, then they get a very dubious penalty 3-2 to Hendon. Ref gives a foul, and a melee ensues resulting in a red card for the V's! We are down to 10 men, we get a free kick about 25 yards out, sweet strike from AB...3-3! About 3 minutes to go we are fired up, win the ball back couple of attempts on their goal then Christian bangs it into the net with about 30 seconds to go......3-4 to the V's!! Man of the Match - Kyle 'Paulo Maldini' Solanki. PR: 8.0

VENCEREMOS 1-3 KENSINGTON DRAGONS RED

Slow off the mark initially and our first loss ever on our home pitch. Initially some good passing but we never got going, most of the team missing the mark of their usual standards. First half we couldn't finish our chances, opposition broke and scored. We managed to claw one back from Kaarlo but couldn't capitalise and soon let the opposition score 2 goals. PR: 6.0

PITSHANGER WHITE 1-5 VENCEREMOS

Nice to start with a win, although we had to chop and change a bit before we started to dominate in the second half. The terrible pitch didn’t help, but we started well and they gifted us two own goals because of our pressure - and a great corner delivery from Kye for the opener. But then we weren’t linking well from defence to midfield to attack, and seemed hesitant and scrappy in possession. Once the midfield settled in the second half, with Tom and Abi pushed further forward, we grew into the game and deserved the win. They spawned a soft penalty for a consolation goal, but a positive run and shot from Jamel, and two clinical finishes from Bradley sealed it. Despite the lack of game practice, there were some sharp performances, particularly from Max, Sachin, Tom and Maxim (MotM). PERFORMANCE RATING 7.5
