VENCEREMOS 0-5 BRENTHAM COLTS RED

The game started and was pretty even for the first 15minutes, then Brentham scored, within the next 10 minutes we found ourselves 4 nil down by some sloppy play and some lucky bounces that ended up in the back of our own net.  Second half was a different story, the V's came out fighting and stated to play and win the 1st ball and moved up and down the pitch. If it weren't for Brentham's keeper who made 3 to 4 phenomenal point blank / reaction saves we would have been back in the game. We let one in with about 10 minutes to go to a wonder strike, but heads did not drop and we kept attacking till the final whistle. It just was not our day. Lesson learnt, we have to give 100% from the first whistle. Performance Rating 7.5

VENCEREMOS 1-1 ST JOSEPHS RED

A blinder of a match against arguably the strongest team in the league, yet to lose. Previous issues of concentration from the get go were put to bed today as from the first whistle to the last the boys were fully focused and put in 110% effort. The boys stood toe to toe against faster and stronger boys. Utilising their football brains, the passing and movement was slick. An unfortunate goal conceded just before half time where we struggled to clear the ball from our box, resulting in an easy finish from the opposition. Second half and a quick shift in tactics and dividends pay off. Sidney taking a run down the wing, crossing into the box and Dominic taking it on the half volley and finishing it first time. A superb goal. The last 10minutes was end to end with the opposition applying a huge amount of pressure. In the dying embers of the match Dominic gets a through ball, collecting it from the half way line and bombing towards goal, unfortunately he was unable to finish and the game ended there. One of the best performances the team have pulled off, and reaffirmation that the league standing does not do the boys justice. A superb effort from all the boys today. Performance Rating 8.5

KENSINGTON DRAGONS 4-2 VENCEREMOS

Not a great pitch and the boys (as usual) were more interested in chatting amongst themselves than focusing on the game. Daniel, Luca and I all stressed the importance of getting control of the ball on a bumpy pitch. Once the game started we shipped 3 goals in 15 mins and the heads just dropped. Lack of focus and zero responsibility all round. As the game went on we seemed to settle. We lost Kaarlo towards the end of the 1st half but pulled a goal back. It gave the boys a lift. In the second half they were a completely different team. We scored again and the other team were visibly worried so started time wasting. We had a third goal disallowed for a offside (a tight call) and we just couldn’t build on the momentum from there but had opportunities to score. Pleased with the way the kids turned it around. Performance Rating 8.0
